Clubs can get to know the Antwerp harbour together with the Port Centre by visiting various companies here. This provides an economic and geographical view of the harbour. During the trip our harbour guides will explain the various types of goods handling, the harbour infrastructure, employment, the economic significance of the harbour and environmental values. A number of excursion targets have been selected in collaboration with the Port Centre, which you will visit during your guided tour. These take into account the membership of the group. Although we recommend spending a whole day visiting the port, shorter tours are also possible.

Themed visit 'A Harbour full of Taste' about foodstuffs

Given that the Antwerp harbour plays an important role in the import and export of foodstuffs, the Port Centre has developed a special excursion where you can discover the Antwerp harbour in its role in our food chain. Many basic ingredients of our food come into the country via the harbour, other foods are produced here, processed, stored, packaged or distributed. Just think about the tonnes of bananas that arrive in our harbour, the gigantic quantities of unroasted coffee which are stored here and which are bid for world-wide, or the concentrated fruit juices that are brought from Brazil to Europe in 15,000 ton tanker ships.

During this themed visit you will visit both the left and the right banks. You will visit various enterprises, including a fruit terminal, discuss loading sugar, the storage of cocoa and coffee beans, production of malt,... And alongside this you will get to know the people in the harbour. Harbour workers have their own canteen, truckers from all the countries of Europe bring their own food traditions with them to the harbour, and on board the ships there is a truly global cuisine. A multi-cultural meal in the best truck-stop in Benelux is an essential part of the visit.

  • This trip, including the reception with coffee or tea and lunch, can be organised for 28 euros per person.
