Cycling

Mol is pre-eminently the place for cycling. Let there be no doubt about it. If you want to race across the canal dikes in an extremely sporty way, or need to regain your breath on a terrace, you will find everything here. This region possibly has the largest number of kilometres suitable for cyclists in the whole of Belgium.

Spotlight on: New! Zilvermeer is a cycling paradise!

Book your cycle package when you book your accommodation in the log cabins or one of the tourist camp sites. This is thoroughly recommended as a way of discovering the natural surroundings of the Zilvermeer.

For just 10 Euro extra per booking the whole family gets a free rental bike for the whole of their stay (up to a maximum of 1 week per booking). In addition you get one free map of the cycle path network per booking (map value is 5 Euro). This offer is available from 1 January to 8 April, from 6 May to 27 May, from 5 September to 13 November  and from 23 December to 31 December 2011.

The cycle package can be combined with the new 'Storyteller' option from the Mol local authority, see further down this same page.

Bicycle hire

Nothing beats exploring the natural environment on a bicycle! Zilvermeer has a bicycle hire service which can be used by both guests and visitors. Accessories such as child seats and bicycle map holders are also available.

Bicycle hire per day: 7 euros (this service is available all year round)
Group bicycle hire per day: 6 euros (minimum 15 paying people)
New: hire of children's bicycles: 4 euros per day.

Bicycle workshop

The park uses the services of staff of the non-profit organisation Fietsenatelier Mol to maintain the hire bicycles. This is a project for the integration of the long-term unemployed into employment..
Intensive individual and group supervision is combined with supervised work experience in the bicycle workshop. An excellently maintained bicycle is the result!

New: Storyteller!

Discover Mol and its surroundings by bicycle with the ‘Storyteller’, a satellite-guided cycle route with images and sound fragments. The GPS appliance guides you along the most beautiful and most interesting places in our municipality. The basic route is 32 kilometres and can be extended by a further 23 kilometres.

You can reserve the GPS appliance needed via the municipal tourism service (tel. 014 33 07 85), departure and return is at the tourist service on the marketplace in Mol centre.

Mensen zijn op fietstocht met de Storyteller. Nog een groep fietsers die met de Storyteller de omgeving van Mol en het Provinciaal Recreatiedomein Zilvermeer verkennen.
