Cosy rustic atmosphere

An exhibition in the Balkenzaal (Beam room)

The Balkenzaal (Beam room) is located in the former reception building. The room gets its name from the wooden roof trusses and the poplar planking. All this wood creates a cosy, rustic character. The southern side of the room is made of glass and looks onto the sunny patio with exotically coloured plants.

A dividing wall can be removed to make the room larger. In this extra space there is also a bar with limited cooking facilities. The old wood-burning stove makes this part particularly cosy in the winter months.

Celebrations and dinners

Barbeque outside the Balkenzaal (Beam room)

The Balkenzaal (Beam room) is an excellent location for celebrations and dinners. Depending on the activity and the layout required, there is room for 70 to 100 people.

You can supply the dinner yourself, but this can also be arranged through the kitchen of the cafeteria at Arboretum Kalmthout or through one of our caterers. You are also free to use your own caterer.

Courses, workshops and practical activities

Workshop in the Balkenzaal (Beam room)

The Balkenzaal (Beam room) lends itself very well to the organisation of courses and other practical activities. The room is also very suitable for exhibitions. The necessary infrastructure is there (tables, display cases, hanging systems, etc.).

The room can be totally blacked out and is therefore also suitable for holding more intimate theatrical performances and slide or video shows.
