Spring plant day
For more than 20 years, true plant enthusiasts have gathered twice a year at Arboretum Kalmthout for the traditional Plant days. Over that time, this arrangement has grown into a true plant festival with the hardy garden plant as the guest of honour. The spring plant day takes place on the third Sunday of April each year (apart from Easter Sunday).
Paradise for plant enthusiasts
The spring plant day at Arboretum Kalmthout is paradise for anyone who loves plants and gardening. The theme of the whole day is garden plants.
Discover 12 hectares of spring garden.
Take the opportunity to wander around the 12 hectare arboretum garden. It is a real journey of discovery around the fantastically diverse world of plants, covered in spring blooms at that time. The garden is covered with colourful carpets of flowering ground cover plants. Fresh green leaves are sprouting on the Japanese maples, cherry and apple trees display their fragile beauty and hundreds of rhododendrons put on an incredible display of blooms.
You will find inspiration for your own garden and can admire fully-grown plants that you might find as young plants on one of the stalls.
Between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. our guides take visitors on a pleasant spring stroll around the collection. Interspersed with anecdotes and historical facts, they will tell you about the plants and the landscape architecture.
