Witch hazel festival
In the middle of winter, Arboretum Kalmthout specially opens its doors for the traditional Witch hazel festival. This festival was originally intended to highlight the special collection of witch hazels but has since grown into a real winter festival for all of the plants that brighten up the coldest season.
Magic of the winter garden
Almost no one expects to find a garden full of colours and aromas in the middle of winter. And yet! Get to know an unexpected number of winter blooming plants at the arboretum garden. The collection is not only unique due to the large number or the variation of winter blooming plants, but also due to the size and age of the individual specimens. Moreover, the plants are often new introductions and own selections. In that aspect the domain is a real experimental garden and a household word in botanical circles. Far beyond our national borders there is a huge interest for the unique collection. The fascination for these plants appears from the success of the annual Witch hazel festival.
Exceptional offer at the Plant centre
If you want to plant winter blooming plants in your own garden, the Plant centre offers you all kinds of plants. The number one speciality is of course the witch hazel itself. Every year in January and February there are between 20 and 30 different varieties and cultivars.
