Arboretum Kalmthout played an important role in the past in the selection of witch hazels. Many of the cultivated varieties worldwide were 'created' in Kalmthout by Antoine Kort and the Belder family.

For decades, Arboretum Kalmthout has been welcoming lovers of witch hazels, to exchange information and to enjoy the spectacular winter blooming of the old plants in the collection.
