If you look down at the earth from space, you can see the Chinese Wall and the lights of Belgium. Were you to zoom in on Antwerp, then you would undoubtedly make out the port, but also, certainly, the distinctly green character of our province.

The provincial administration takes it's 'green' tasks extremely seriously. For this, we attach a great deal of importance to creating recreational opportunities in our 'natural heritage'.

If we pay so much attention to our Bosgroepen (wooded areas), it is not only to make all our woods more healthy, but especially to make them accessible to visitors. When we develop a regional landscaped park in Voorkempen, then our main mission is accessibility. If we create a flooded area, we immediately make sure that people can walk and cycle around the area.

Parks, gardens and open spaces

The parks, gardens and open spaces are the showpiece of the province of Antwerp. 

They are all special places that already charm you with their variety of nature. And they are loved, that is certainly clear. Every day thousands of visitors come to replenish their oxygen and their energy. And we offer more than just peace and nature. For example, top quality nature education, or stylish events, ... we also open our doors for culture.

Recreation centres

There is a place in our recreation parks for more active, sporty holiday-maker, or for the real tourist. Swimming pools and climbing walls, sports fields and terraces in the sun, camping sites and mountain bike routes, everything is available. The recreational areas are holiday destinations in your own province. The infrastructure and accommodation are of the highest quality. Everything according to your requirements and in an environment that is looked after perfectly.

So it is about time you discovered more of these green 'gems'. On this website, but more preferably for real! Each of our parks and grounds has its own character, its own appearance and its own unique characteristics. But they have one thing in common: hospitality and quality!
